AccessData has announced it will separate its core businesses into two independent companies with its incident response offerings falling under the umbrella of the newly formed Resolution1 Security.
Current AccessData CEO and Chairman Tim Leehealey will also serve as Chairman for Resolution1. Brian Karney will become CEO of Resolution1 and Craig Carpenter will assume the positions of president and COO.
As the number of cybersecurity events have increased, AccessData has seen its incident response business grow. It's like the entire world “en masse got religion,” Carpenter told SCMagazine.com, noting that with customers becoming more demanding it had gotten “harder and harder to serve two masters” as a single company.
“If you see yourself enter a sweet spot, you want to pour resources into it,” he added, which is what splitting the businesses into two companies will allow them to do.
