Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) and malware attacks continued to target organizations in Europe this past year, especially in Great Britain, Germany, France and Switzerland.
The four countries accounted for more than 70 percent of unique workstation infections in 2013, according to FireEye's Advanced Threat Report 2013, which analyzes global threats. FireEye's Dynamic Threat Intelligence (DTI) cloud provided attack metrics, as well as FireEye customers.
In addition to disclosing the most at-risk countries, FireEye identified the European industry verticals that APTs most frequently target. Government organizations in Europe accounted for a quarter of all APT attacks, and financial services suffered from 22 percent of all attacks.
FireEye recommends organizations stay current with security tools and implement an incident response and management strategy for possible security gaps.
