The infamous hacktivist collective Anonymous released a 1.7-GB archive of sensitive information after infiltrating the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) with the help of their hacking collaborators AntiSe3curityOPS. A BitTorrent file was uploaded Monday to Pirate Bay, including a message from the group stating, “We are releasing data to spread information, to allow the people to be heard, and to know the corruption in their government.” The leaked data is reported to include internal emails, as well as other information extracted from hijacked databases at the DoJ. Hacktivism has picked up this week as Sunday the Chicago Police Department and city of Chicago's official websites were taken down by a cyber strike performed by AntiS3curityOPS in retaliation for police violence toward peaceful NATO summit protesters.
