Aqua Security, a company providing cloud-native application protection services, said it has purchased the startup Argon, which is developing technologies to secure the software supply chain, for an undisclosed amount, VentureBeat reports.
The acquisition has produced “the industry’s first and only solution to secure all stages of software build and release,” according to Aqua Security co-founder and CEO Dror Davidoff.
Argon’s technology provides users with the ability to assess their code repositories and infrastructure “to ensure immutability of code from creation through to runtime,” according to Davidoff.
This measure could serve as a solution to the rise in supply chain attacks across industries, which was brought to widespread attention by the recent SolarWinds breach.
Using Argon’s solution, firms can detect and map continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, secure the DevOps toolchain through a zero-trust approach and perform a per-stage validation of code and artifact integrity.
Davidoff says software supply chain protection is an early stage market with the potential to grow over the coming years.
