CISA to zero in on cybersecurity, election security

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency will be prioritizing both cybersecurity and election security in the coming year, CyberScoop reports. Aside from helping corporate boards strengthen cyber risk management through the CISA's Cybersecurity Advisory Committee, the agency will also continue enhancing the National Cybersecurity Alert system. "While Shields Up has to be the new normal for national cyber defense in order for it to be sustainable, we cant just remain on the highest level of alert in perpetuity because that'll wind up in vigilance fatigue," said CISA Director Jen Easterly. CISA will also strengthen the country's election cybersecurity defenses as it begins preparations for the 2024 presidential polls. Additional resources will be allocated toward maintaining a talent management ecosystem in the agency, according to Easterly, who added that CISA will also task a subcommittee to take charge of the technology ecosystem. "We're going to be laser-focused over the coming year as we prepare for the general election in 2024," said Easterly.
