CRN reports that a new partnership between Dell Technologies and Snowflake seeks to provide greater flexibilities in the multi-cloud, through the merger between the on-premise storage capabilities by Dell and Snowflake's cloud data expertise.
Through the new collaboration, users will be able to copy on-premise data from their Dell hardware onto the Snowflake Data Cloud, gaining the option to keep their data on-premises or transfer it to the public cloud, as well as comply with data security requirements and perform data analytics using Snowflake technology.
"Customers want to keep some of the data in their data center, but they still want to use that with Snowflake's cloud-based analytics," according to Dell Technologies Vice President of product management Caitlin Gordon.
"By not changing where the analytics run but keeping the data in place, we've been able to collaborate to enable Snowflake's external table capability to actually read the data that exists on our on-premise object storage capabilities, so that you can actually read that data, keep it in place, but leverage that with other cloud-based data that you have in the Snowflake platform," she said.
