VMware unveils MDR update to cybersecurity offerings

VMware Carbon Black announced that its endpoint security offering has been upgraded with managed detection and response capabilities, enhancing the company’s existing machine-learning powered managed threat detection services, SDxCentral reports.

The company says the feature expands VMWare security analysts’ functions of continuous collection of workload and endpoint telemetry in the Carbon Black Cloud and sending out alerts in the event of possible security incidents, to now providing verification if an attack is occurring and present incident response and threat containment recommendations in real-time.

“Our MDR offering adds an extra level of protection and the fact that we are able to contain the threats much quicker than our customers would be able to and help them recover faster,” said VMWare’s MDR manager Taree Reardon.

Reardon says VMWare’s analysts will also be able to recommend proactive security procedures to users, leveraging their wider threat visibility thanks to the company’s over 1 million endpoints across multiple industries.
