Nintendo has revealed that its Japanese fan site Club Nintendo was hacked, leading to the compromise of several thousand user accounts.
In a notice to customers posted on its site, the company said that attackers successfully logged in to its site nearly 24,000 times between June 9 and Thursday, after making more than 15 million attempts to fraudulently access it.
Because of the breach, miscreants may have accessed the names, email addresses, physical addresses and phone numbers associated with 23,926 Club Nintendo user accounts. As a security measure, Nintendo is requiring members of its Japanese site to reset their passwords.
