A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack took feminist website Femsplain offline this weekend and corresponded with International Women's Day.
According to the site's Twitter account, an unknown group took the site down for nearly three hours before a volunteer admin was able to bring Femsplain back online.
In comments to The Verge, the site's founder, Amber Gordon said: “We constantly have people attacking us and attempting to bring our website down. It's unfortunate but the reality of our mission.” She went on to say that previous attacks hadn't been as severe as this weekend's.
Gordon also shared an image of the DDoS attack on her Twitter account. The site upgraded to a pro version of CloudFlare following the attack.
