Ohio Lottery knocked offline by cyberattack: payouts impacted

DragonForce cyberattack hits Ohio Lottery Ohio Lottery had several of its primary systems taken down and payouts impacted following a cyberattack, which has since been claimed by the newly-emergent DragonForce hacking operation, reports The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future. Investigation into the extent of the breach, which was reported by local news outlets to have commenced on Dec. 21, is still underway. "The integrity of our games is the top priority of the Lottery, and we assure the public the gaming system is fully operational. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as possible to restore all services," said Ohio Lottery officials. However, DragonForce, which also took credit for a separate attack against probiotic drink manufacturer Yakult Australia, alleged that it was able to exfiltrate over 94GB of data from the state lottery. Such an attack comes after ransomware intrusions against the City of Huber Heights in November and the Ohio History Connection in July.
