Fortune 1000 firms subjected to more breaches, data exfiltrations

Data breaches and exfiltrations experienced by Fortune 1000 companies across 21 different sectors have increased by 7% year-over-year, SiliconAngle reports. Credential pairs with companies' email addresses and plaintext passwords totaled 27.48 million, over 223,000 of which have been compromised by malware and have enabled access to over 56,000 cloud-based apps, a SpyCloud report revealed. The findings also showed that devices compromised with information-stealing malware have been leveraged by over 171,500 employees to access corporate resources, while 1.87 billion cookie records have been associated with employees. "Employees using infected corporate or personal devices pose a risk for their organizations. As an employee, they may have access to their corporate networks and applications on those devices and stolen data from these devices can be used to harm their employer," said SpyCloud Director of Security Research Trevor Hilligoss. Meanwhile, almost 31 million customers of Fortune 1000 enterprises were found to be impacted by malware.
