A Turkish man accused of stealing nearly $60 million in ATM heists and cyber attacks will be extradited to the U.S. after a custody battle. Ercan Findikoglu, 33, will be flown to New York this Tuesday after losing his fight against extradition from his German prison, according to Bloomberg.
Findikoglu stands accused of leading a hacking group between 2011-2013 and breaking into the networks of payment processing companies to remove withdrawal limits and account balances on prepaid debit cards and withdraw money.
He was arrested at a Frankfurt Airport in December 2013 and has been regarded by the German courts as the most wanted computer hacker in the world. The courts initially refused to extradite Findikoglu because he could face 250 years in prison if convicted, a sentence Germany considered to be too extreme.
