Google has fixed a factory bug for the Android 5.0 Lollipop that under certain conditions could prompt a device reset that deleted files and data, according to posts from Android Police commenter Peter Kiddier.
The flaw can trigger a reset after a user tries, deliberately or inadvertently, to get past the locked screen too many times.
While the likelihood that the conditions would be met is low, Google, apparently using an abundance of caution, issued an update just one month after the newest version of Lollipop was released.
The 5.0.1 update, found on the factory images page for Nexus devices as well as the Android Open Source Project page, is currently available for some devices and will eventually be offered for others.
The company also fixed a flaw responsible for video playback fails.
