Unlike Samsung and Google, HTC said it will not pledge to provide monthly Android updates.
HTC America President Jason Mackenzie tweeted that these security updates “not realistic” considering HTC would have to get carrier approval. But, he clarified that HTC would “push for them [the updates], but [it's] unrealistic for anyone to say guaranteed every month.”
He continued with one more tweet elaboration.

— Jason Mackenzie (@JasonMacHTC) October 3, 2015The clarification on HTC's stance follows news of multiple major Android vulnerabilities, including two recently discovered critical vulnerabilities in Android's Stagefright code. Patches hadn't been released for the two vulnerabilities when researchers disclosed their findings this past Thursday.
Earlier this summer, further Stagefright vulnerabilities were identified that affected 95 percent of Android devices. In that instance, the researchers reported their findings to Google along with patches. They said waiting for over-the-air updates would take awhile, however.
