New iCloud security measures will be implemented in the coming weeks after a slew of high-profile celebrity nude photos surfaced online over Labor Day weekend.
Apple's Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook told The Wall Street Journal that the company will begin alerting users via email and push notifications when any account password is changed, when a device logs into an account for the first time, or if iCloud data is restored to a new device.
Users also can address security issues immediately by changing their passwords to retake control of their accounts or alert Apple's security team.
Apple maintains that the nude photos were not stolen through a vulnerability in iCloud's systems, but rather through phishing campaigns and correctly guessing victims' passwords.
