Lapsus$ member belatedly leaks GTA 5 source code

Rockstar Games had the source code for its "Grand Theft Auto 5" game reportedly exposed by Lapsus$ hacking group member "Phil" on a Telegram channel on Dec. 24, more than a year after the hacking operation compromised the video game publishing firm, reports Tom's Hardware. Such leaked source code, which was immediately spread on various Discord channels and dark web sites, also included a Python script and files regarding Rockstar Games' "Bully 2" and "Midnight Club 5" titles, as well as various employees' corporate email addresses. Phil's message accompanying the leak suggests that the exposure was done in retaliation to the sentencing of fellow Lapsus$ hacker Arion Kurtaj, who was given an indefinite hospital order following his involvement in the theft and exposure of GTA 6 pre-release trailers. Aside from Rockstar Games, Lapsus$ has already targeted Microsoft, Uber, Samsung, Nvidia, and fellow video game publisher Ubisoft.
