No personal information on riders or employees was compromised by malware found in March on the Port Authority of Allegheny County's internal computer.
On March 31, the port authority's IT Department discovered the malware and began remediation procedures less than two hours after its discovery, according to a May 25 media advisory.
The problem didn't cause widespread delays and only affected a small number of customers who were unable to use their ConnectCards to pay transit fares, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
The agency took steps to secure the system, vanquish the infection, and assess whether personal information was compromised or stolen, the advisory said.
Officials also contracted a firm that specializes in computer forensics to conduct a full analysis of the computer system, which found no evidence that employee or commuter information had been compromised.
