Cybersecurity Dive reports that mounting cybersecurity threats against the manufacturing industry, which are expected to exacerbate further amid intensified Chinese cyberattacks against critical infrastructure, have prompted U.S. manufacturing firms to strengthen cybersecurity partnerships through the Manufacturing Information Sharing and Analysis Center.

After establishing an in-person tabletop exercise in collaboration with Google Cloud, co-leading an operation technology training course with Dragos, and forming a working group that created a cyber incident response playbook last year, MFG-ISAC is poised to hold another in-person tabletop exercise and develop more OT threat guidelines, said MFG-ISAC Program Director Timothy Chase. Additional working groups, one of which will be focused on tackling the Defense Department's updated Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification requirements, will also be assembled.

"The recognition of the importance of both IT and OT cybersecurity is increasing across the manufacturing sector but there is much more work to be done in education and in helping resource security teams with relevant threat and vulnerability information to secure their own environments," Chase said.
