Many companies lacking in API security

Share

Sixty-two percent of security leaders around the world surveyed by Radware reported having at least a third of APIs that are undocumented, even though 92% believed having sufficient API protection, indicating the prevalence of a false sense of security in APIs, according to VentureBeat. Substantial growth in API and API attack traffic amid increasing cloud adoption should prompt companies to improve their defenses against API-level threats, said researchers. "For many companies, there is unequivocally a false sense of security that they are adequately protected from cyberattacks. In reality, they have significant gaps in the protection around unknown and undocumented APIs. API security is not a trend that is going away. APIs are a fundamental component to most of the current technologies and security must be a priority for every organization," said Radware COO and Head of Research and Development Gabi Malka. Meanwhile, numerous vendors have been developing API security solutions to address the rising problem of API-driven threats.
