Startup Noname Security said its Active Testing V2 service, which allows enterprises to thoroughly test all application programming interfaces, has entered general availability, according to SiliconANGLE.
The firm says Active Testing is designed to promote the shift left doctrine of application security, which enables developers to capture and address vulnerabilities before the API reaches production as well as speed up innovation and ensure regulatory compliance.
One of the biggest challenges in testing API security is that many tools often are unable to recognize certain APIs because of their complex business logic.Noname Security says Active Testing allows testing of every API as well as provides integration into the whole software development lifecycle. It also introduces continuous integration/continuous deployment and dynamic or static API specification analysis, ensuring API security across the application development process.
Noname Security co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Shay Levi says API security testing is simply a good business practice. Fixing issues earlier in an APIs lifecycle can reduce remediation costs by 10 to 100 times.
