Novel Fortinet OT security solutions unveiled

SiliconAngle reports that mounting cybersecurity risks faced by operational technology environments have prompted Fortinet to launch not only an updated version of its FortiGuard OT Security Service with expanded threat intelligence resources but also a plethora of new offerings. Robust security and access control have been touted by Fortinet in its new industrial-class Ethernet switch, FortiSwitch Rugged 424F, which enables FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall integration and real-time OT networking protocol support, while the new FortiAP 432F access point bolsters attack mitigation by facilitating industrial Wi-Fi network segmentation. Fortinet has also introduced the new FortiExtender Vehicle 211F wireless gateway to enhance first responder communications. Updates have also been unveiled for the firm's FortiDeceptor breach and attack isolation tech, FortiGuard Outbreak Alerts, and FortiAnalyzer. "We understand that OT differs significantly from traditional IT systems and that's why our OT Security Platform was purpose-built to provide integrated protection and risk management specific to industrial environments. Rising attacks on critical infrastructure have made OT security more important than ever before," said Fortinet Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Product Strategy John Maddison.
