Over 300K hit by SuperCare Health breach

SuperCare Health, a respiratory care provider in California, has noted that 318,379 patients had their data compromised by a data breach last year, reports SecurityWeek. Based on an investigation, SuperCare Health's systems were infiltrated by an unauthorized actor from July 23 to July 27, 2021, but the provider only discovered in February that compromised data included patients' names, birthdates, addresses, hospital or medical groups, account numbers, medical record number, health-related information, and claim data, as well as driver's license numbers and Social Security numbers in some cases. Individuals affected by the breach have been informed about the incident on March 25 but the provider noted that there has been no evidence indicating that any of the compromised information had been "published, shared, or misused." SuperCare Health's disclosure comes after Broward Health, Monongalia Health System, South Denver Associates, and Norwood Clinic reported being impacted by data breaches. Health care organizations have been warned by the Department of Health and Human Services regarding an ongoing campaign by the Lapsus$ hacking group, which has already hit Okta, Microsoft, Globant, and Samsung.
