Palo Alto Networks launched Idira, a new identity security platform designed to manage human, machine, and AI agent identities within a single framework, according to a recent report by Silicon Angle.

Idira integrates technology from CyberArk, acquired by Palo Alto Networks for $25 billion, extending privileged access management controls to machine and AI identities. This addresses the growing challenge of generative AI in corporate environments, where machine and AI identities now significantly outnumber human ones. Palo Alto Networks reports that nine in 10 organizations experienced an identity-related breach in the past year, with 61% of privileged access requests granted as standing privilege rather than on demand. The platform uses AI to identify and flag risks across identities and entitlements, enforces dynamic, just-in-time access, and automates governance and compliance.

Existing CyberArk customers will have various upgrade paths depending on their current licenses, with some receiving automatic improvements and others able to purchase add-ons for enhanced security features. Idira aims to provide a unified control plane for security teams managing a complex identity landscape, moving beyond traditional tools designed for a smaller administrator base. The platform is available now, with further features planned for later this year.
