Investigations into possible data breaches related to the widespread Clop ransomware attacks targeting a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer file transfer app are underway in Illinois and Missouri, reports The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.
Missouri's Office of Administration, Information Services and Technology Division disclosed that it has been looking into files and other documents that may have been exfiltrated in the aftermath of the attack, promising immediate notification of individuals, systems, or entities that may have been impacted.
A similar probe has also been ongoing at the Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology, which believes that numerous individuals may have had their data compromised as a result of the MOVEit attack even though the agency's infrastructure and security teams had immediately responded to the incident.
Such disclosures follow the announcement of Minnesota's Department of Education that nearly 100,000 students had their personal data impacted by the attack.
