TechRepublic reports that cybersecurity professionals and software developers from U.S. companies with at least 2,000 workers have been spending significant periods of time to deal with software vulnerabilities that could have been addressed beforehand.
More than five hours daily are being spent by 41% of cyber professionals and 32% of developers in addressing preventable security issues, an Invicti and Wakefield Research report revealed. The study also showed that 81% have reported the arrival of support tickets at the end of their workdays while one-half and one-third of respondents said that such security concerns have prompted them to log in during weekends or their rest periods and cancel dates and night life, respectively."
Organizations can ease stressful overwork and related problems for security and DevOps teams by ensuring that security is built into the software development lifecycle, or SDLC, and is not an afterthought. Application security scanning should be automated both while the software is being developed and once it is in production," said Invicti Chief Product Officer Sonali Shah.
