Major government-sponsored dental insurance provider Managed Care of North America Dental has disclosed being impacted by a cyberattack compromising personal and health information from more than 8.92 million individuals, including patients, parents, guardians, and guarantors, according to BleepingComputer. MCNA Dental had its network infiltrated between Feb. 26 and March 6, within which attackers were able to exfiltrate data, including full names, birthdates, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, driver's license numbers, Social Security numbers, and government-issued ID numbers, as well as health insurance details, dental care information, and bills and insurance claims, said MDNA Dental in a breach notification filed with the Office of the Maine Attorney General. Enhanced network security has already been implemented by MDNA Dental following the attack. Meanwhile, the responsibility for the cyberattack against MDNA Dental has been claimed by the LockBit ransomware operation, which leaked all data stolen from the insurer for free in early April after failing to receive the $10 million it demanded.
