Following the May 4 discovery of suspicious ATM withdrawals that occurred the day prior, Santander Bank determined that a magnetic stripe skimming device had been placed on the ATM vestibule door at its Woburn, Mass., branch on 19 Pleasant St.
Santander Bank is notifying individuals that the skimming device was placed on the ATM vestibule door from May 1 to May 2, possibly compromising data such as customer names, card numbers, card expiration dates, card security codes and card PIN numbers.
“The investigation revealed that some of the personal information obtained was used for fraudulent purposes,” a notification letter said. “The cards for all impacted individuals were immediately closed and new cards were issued.”
Santander is placing additional fraud monitoring on affected accounts, and is closely monitoring its ATMs and vestibule doors.
