Survey: Cybersecurity incidents hampered cloud-native deployments for many organizations

Red Hat reports that around 67% of respondents to its survey said they were forced to delay or slow down deployment of Kubernetes clusters in response to a cybersecurity issue, according to Cloud Native Now. The survey of 600 DevOps, security, and engineering professionals found that 53%of respondents were subjected to a software supply chain issue linked to cloud-native and containerized development in the past year. Runtime issues were named the top cybersecurity incident with 49% of respondents claiming to have experienced them, followed by misconfigurations at 45%, a major vulnerability needing remediation at 42%, and a failed audit at 29%. Cloud-native application development is suffering setbacks due to these incidents, according to the report, which found 44% of respondents experienced project delays and 39% acknowledged their success was affected negatively by the incident. In terms of supply chain issues, the three leaders were vulnerabilities at 35%, use of open-source software at 32%, insider threats at 28%, and untrusted content at 27%.
