Novel AI for better intel reports under development at IARPA

FedScoop reports that the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity has launched its new rapid explanation, analysis, and sourcing online program, which seeks to foster the development of a new artificial intelligence-based software aimed at bolstering evidence and reasoning in intelligence reports while enhancing convenience for researchers. IARPA Program Manager Dr. Steven Rieber said that the software will not only identify more evidence related to researched topics but also provide suggestions and comments that could automatically determine the report's strengths and weaknesses with only a push of a button. "...[I]ntelligence analysts, like most professionals, are busy people doing important tasks, and often dont have sufficient time to take away from their work to use a structured method. So, my goal in coming to IARPA was to work with scientists to develop new methods for intelligence analysts that require much less time and effort on the part of any analyst," said Rieber.
