U.S. authorities have launched an investigation after British Uber customers reported being charged for rides in the U.S. that they neither booked or took, according to a report in The Guardian.
Some users have reported difficulties in trying to contact the company to file a claim including London media personality Anthea Turner who tweeted that there was "nothing to HELP me on website this is ridiculous." The Guardian quoted another London-based user as being charged $260 for a limousine ride in California. The ride share company has agreed to reimburse those affected and urged riders to use unique login information for their accounts.
Earlier this year, dark website vendors claiming to be selling Uber login credentials for as little as a dollar. Uber has denied that it has experienced a breach.
