California-based semiconductor and security testing vendor Synopsys has entered a $330 million to purchase software-as-a-service security provider WhiteHat Security, reports CRN.
The acquisition would enable Synopsys to bolster its security technology offerings by using WhiteHat's dynamic application security testing technology, according to Synopsys Software Integrity Group General Manager Jason Schmitt.
"WhiteHat Securitys DAST capabilities complement our strengths in static analysis, interactive analysis and software composition analysis, while their expertise in SaaS will accelerate our security testing SaaS capabilities. We are excited about the value this will create for our customers and welcome the WhiteHat Security team as they join us in our mission to build trust in the software that businesses depend on," said Schmitt. WhiteHat CEO Craig Hinkley noted that the deal would only bring "exciting opportunities" for customers amid a growing market.
Synopsys is poised to finalize the acquisition of WhiteHat from NTT, which had purchased the company three years ago, by the third fiscal quarter.
