Zero trust averts cyberattacks, report shows

Zero-trust architecture implementation has helped cybersecurity leaders avert five major cyberattacks annually resulting in $20 million in average savings per year, reports TechRepublic. Forty-seven percent of 1,000 IT and security professionals in eight countries said that their organizations' usage of zero trust security would prevent them from being breached even though attacks have been increasingly frequent and sophisticated, according to an Illumio report. Meanwhile, 90% have cited zero trust strategies among their three security priorities this year, while software supply chain attacks, zero-day exploits, and ransomware attacks were named as the biggest threats their organizations are facing. "Money will not make the problem go away until security leaders move beyond the legacy approach to only focus on detection and perimeter protection. Zero Trust Segmentation is emerging as a true market category that is transforming business operations and strengthening cyber resiliency," said Illumio co-founder and Chief Technology Officer PJ Kirner.
