Bitcoin poker site “Seals with Clubs” suffers password breach

An online poker service, where players bid with Bitcoins, is directing its users to reset their passwords after its database server was breached.

On Thursday, SealswithClubs.eu posted a notice online about the “mandatory password reset,” where users salted and hashed passwords were thought to be compromised.

According to the notice, a third-party data center the service used “permitted unauthorized access” to its database server, leading to the “likely” compromise of user credentials. Seals with Clubs employed the data center up until November.

A Thursday Ars Technica article also revealed that more than 42,000 credentials from the service could be at risk, after an individual using the online name “StacyM” posted the encrypted passwords to a forum. StacyM offered bitcoin payment to hackers willing to crack the passwords.
