Exium rolls out SASE node for network management, security service

Network World reports that Exium has updated its cloud-based network security and management system with a new on-premises secure access service edge node. Exium Chief Operating Officer Michael Gallagher says mid-sized businesses are constantly threatened by ransomware gangs and cybercriminals because they are unable to afford all the security tools provided by a SASE node as defined by Gartner: SD-WAN, secure web gateways, zero-trust network access, firewall-as-a-service, and a cloud access security broker. Exiums new service provides all of these tools, made possible by the company's adoption of open standards from the 5G core project onto which they added zero-trust architecture, SASE capability and others. The new offering also attempts to solve the issue of needing a round-trip between the end-users system and the cloud, by providing a software image that can be operated any x86 machine in the customers data center and which contains all of the Exium frameworks capabilities. As the local node is still managed through the cloud, users will not be required to perform additional management or provisioning, Gallagher said.
