An Illinois Home Depot shopper is suing the home improvement retailer following a breach of its customer payment information.
Kelsey O'Brien filed the lawsuit in Chicago on Tuesday and is seeking class-action status, compensatory and punitive damages and credit card monitoring services for three years, according to Reuters.
He claimed Home Depot failed to comply with reasonable safety security standards, which allowed for the compromise of his and other customers' personal financial information.
His lawsuit comes only a couple days after the retailer confirmed the breach. Customers at the company's U.S. and Canada stores might have been affected. No evidence has yet indicated that PIN numbers were compromised, but the investigation is ongoing.
