TechRepublic reports that half of IT decision makers in U.S. and U.K. companies with over 500 employees named integration issues and legacy infrastructure challenges as the primary hindrance to implementing new cybersecurity solutions.
Inadequate skills within IT teams have also been cited as a barrier to cybersecurity adoption by 32% of respondents, a BlackFog survey revealed. Moreover, the overabundance of security products and budget constraints were also noted as challenges to cyber implementation, with 70% of respondents saying that they were using at least 11 different security products in their corporate ecosystem, while 22% of respondents remarked considering departing their current position due to inadequate funding for the newest security systems.
Cyber adoption challenges may be addressed with investments in advanced security tools, as well as the application of alternative approaches to dealing with the ongoing cybersecurity skill shortage, said BlackFog founder and CEO Darren Williams.
"There are now many new services that allow companies to engage with a virtual CISO to help fill this void, a solution that enables companies to get qualified people at a fractional cost only when they need it," Williams added.
