Oklahoma's News 9 website is reportedly safe to visit after a malvertising attack which lasted at least a week.
The attack stemmed from a compromised third-party vendor in the form of pop-ups that prompted users to update their Adobe Flash software in an attempt to upload malware on their systems, according to NonDoc.
News 9 Executive Producer of Digital Content Jen Billings told the publication that she was notified of the incident “maybe two weeks ago” and offered advice to site users that “as long as you don't agree to the ‘update,' you shouldn't be infected.”
While infected, the site was reportedly blacklisted by several IT security monitoring systems.
On July 21, the Oklahoma Office of Management and Enterprise Services, which oversees the state's Security Operations Center, warned state employees not to visit the site, according notifications obtained by NonDoc.
The station has yet to reply to SCMagazine.com's request for comments.
