WikiLeaks posted alleged content from CIA Director John Brennan's hacked personal email account on Wednesday, including his unredacted passport number and the details of his SF-86 form, including his wife's Social Security number.
WikiLeaks claimed the documents come from Brennan's non-government email, likely his AOL account; the organization is continuing to solicit similar documents. The leaks followed news that a high school student reportedly hacked Brennan's aging account.
Although the documents do expose personal information, an anonymous CIA official told Nextgov the files predate Brennan's most recent government role and do not pertain to “official agency business.”
CIA Spokesman Dean Boyd also told the publication that there was no indication the documents were classified. “They appear to be documents that a private citizen with national security interests and expertise would be expected to possess,” he said.
