Security news tailored to your needs

SC Magazine has been the go-to source for U.S.-based information security professionals who need to keep up with all the latest industry happenings, cyberattacks, compliance regulations, overall best practices and advances in technologies and services to help them with their day-to-day jobs. Over the years, what the publication has become known for is its timely news, thoroughly researched features, in-depth and objective product reviews and countless expert contributions. Industry pros across the spectrum have looked to the pages of the monthly hardcopy and hit scmagazineus.com on the web to ensure they are up to date on the most current activities in the security marketplace – both good and bad.

Among these faithful readers, we've been able to count quite a few Canadian supporters over time, as well. It seemed only natural, as a result, to look to formally expand our coverage to include a more focused Canadian feature or two, along with some news and other data, that would help our brothers and sisters to the North tackle the ever-rising tide of cybercrimes, compliance demands and more.

With our first Canadian edition, then, we have on offer for you some of the same features and news that our U.S. readers see. But, also, we've included some bits that apply only to you that have been researched and written by some of our journalistic counterparts who are stationed right in your backyard. These and other writers will continue to contribute their words to us here and in a newsletter you also can sign up to receive by hitting our website's SC Canada tab on the homepage.

For now, though, flip through May's issue. In the front of the book, peruse our various statistical data to see what sorts of attacks are making the rounds and where they are coming from, for example. Then turn to some of the other regular departments, like our From the CSO's Desk column, that is written by a leading security professional for his or her peers. Take a look at our latest cover story on how industry players are pulling together to find ways of better securing the Domain Name System. Or turn to another feature that dives into how executives at small-to-medium-sized businesses in Canada are making attempts to hone their cyber skills to better thwart cybercriminals coming at them with much more frequency and force after finding that their larger counterparts are proving a bit more challenging to breach.

Indeed, it's in the front of our magazine that you get all the stuff that provides the much-regarded business case for integrating robust information security practices into any corporate plan today. In the back of the book, however, you'll find the more technical side of the field in our Group Tests. Each month, we try to include two of these, providing readers like you with detailed reviews about just some of the products out there that may prove helpful to you and your organizations.

Whatever it is you're looking for, we're hoping you'll find it either in the pages of the magazine or on our website. And, if you don't, let us know. We're always looking to offer more. And we've got a lot to give: monthly online events, SC World Congress 24/7, SC Awards… Heck, even now, we're prepping to hold our third annual SC World Congress in NY and our first conference and expo just like it – SC Congress Canada – right in Toronto. They both will be held in November, so maybe we'll see you there. Meantime, we hope you like this first edition of SC Magazine Canada and look forward to any feedback from you about this or our many other products.
