Following a series of inquiries by banks and credit unions into the matter, cybersecurity journalist Brian Krebs reached out to the company which then admitted to remediating a breach tied to its payment card systems.
“Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc. (ARG) was recently provided with information that prompted it to launch an investigation of its payment card systems,” the company said in a written statement provided to KrebsonSecurity.
After discovering the breach, the company alerted law enforcement and sought the help of cybersecurity firm Mandiant.
The breach was a result of malware making its way into the payment systems located within the company’s corporate stores, according to Arby’s.
