Cloud security and privacy have evolved tremendously over the years, but there are still many organizations hesitant to adopt the technology.
Given some of the nightmarish hacks that have played out publicly – mostly notably the 2014 iCloud incident which made headlines around the world – it’s understandable why enterprises may be reluctant to store sensitive data in places that aren’t under their complete control. However, there are incredible benefits tied to cloud technology, such as flexibility and collaboration among employees, document control, and yes, even security.
Evelyn de Souza, Data Privacy Leader at Cisco Systems, believes that the major discrepancies tied to the perception of cloud security lie in the way enterprises assume that all data is equal. In this video, she sits with InfoSec Insider to debunk some of the myths tied to cloud security, in addition to foreshadowing what’s to come.
“We’re in for exciting times, but definitely times that require greater reflection and introspection from us as individuals, and also as enterprises,” she says.
