AT&T has signed an agreement to acquire the privately held AlienVault with the intention of using the cybersecurity firm's skills to help the telecommunications giant boost its ability to deliver security offerings to small and medium-sized businesses.
The agreement had been approved by both companies and while the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed it is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018.
“The acquisition of AlienVault will enable AT&T to expand its enterprise-grade security solutions portfolio and offerings to millions of small and medium-sized businesses,” the companies said in joint statement.
ATT&T said in a statement it will continue to invest in and build on AlienVault's foundational Unified Security Management platform and Open Threat Exchange as the company integrates AlienVault into AT&T's cybersecurity suite of services.
