In the event of a ransomware attack, organizations can quickly restore an uninfected copy of their data and resume operations without having to pay ransom. And because Object Lock is supported by multiple data protection software platforms, IT managers can capitalize on this feature within an automated workflow, with no need to separately manage protected copies of data.

Object Lock has become part of Cloudian’s HyperStore object storage platform, which security pros will find scalable and easy to manage. HyperStore customers can start small with less than 100 terabytes of storage and scale without interruption to an exabyte. Unlike traditional enterprise storage where acquisition costs — measured in cost/TB — tend to increase with scale, object storage systems such as HyperStore become more efficient and less costly with scale.
“HyperStore saves by consolidating data to a single system and leveraging built-in management tools,” the company said in its entry. “It also runs on standard hardware, eliminating the need to deploy and maintain proprietary storage servers. Overall, HyperStore provides TCO saving of 60% or more compared to traditional storage or public cloud offerings.”
