(ISC)² consistently appears on top industry certification lists, including the Upwork Skills Index, which named the CISSP certification one of the 20 hottest job “skills” in the U.S. labor market.

The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² has become a coveted certification that opens doors. Searching for “CISSP” on Monster.com returns more than 5,850 job postings.

Those who take the exam must learn the CISSP Common Body of Knowledge (CBK), which consists of eight domains that represent the core cybersecurity concepts professionals need to thrive in the industry today. The CBK gets updated quarterly by subject matter experts from the global (ISC)² membership and other industry experts. In addition, the CISSP undergoes a complete analysis annually for relevance to cover emerging topics. (ISC)² also offers virtual and in-person educational opportunities and training.

Offered for more than a quarter century, the CISSP was a cybersecurity certification of firsts – first to meet ANSI/ISO/IEC Standard 17024 requirements, first to require high-quality, auditable continuing professional education credits, and one of the first listed as a job requirement in the DoD 8570.1 Matrix.

“To meet the ever-evolving needs of today’s cybersecurity pros, the CISSP exam undergoes continual assessment, resulting in fresh content every quarter by (ISC)² members and industry experts,” the organization said in its entry. “A growing global network of more than 146,000 CISSP holders has access to exclusive (ISC)² member benefits, including a multitude of free continuing education, career enhancement and leadership opportunities. (ISC)² has established 157 chapters in more than 50 countries, serving 29,000 cybersecurity professionals.”
