As we welcome in 2019, it’s fair to say that the technological advances surrounding the cloud have come a long way, however, there’s still quite a ways to go. As it has evolved rapidly over the year more and more organizations are tapping into the benefits associated with cloud computing, but they’ve also presented hurdles for security practitioners.
Recent developments surrounding containerization and different types of technologies that are tuned into utility modes-such as serverless computing-have created further challenges, but in return, offer major opportunities.
“It’s key that you think very virtually about your organization,” Jim Reavis, co-founder and CEO of the Cloud Security Alliance, the global not-for-profit entity that develops best practices surrounding cloud security for practitioners, told InfoSec Insider during a recent video interview. “[The business] may have parts that are located inside your organization, but it may also have parts that are located somewhere else in the cloud.”
In the full video interview below, Reavis discusses the major challenges that security practitioners can expect from the cloud today, and what they should be focusing on when it comes to cloud security in 2019. You'll want to take note of these insights and predictions.
