Threat actors managed to access the information of 64,000 Tomorrowland festival-goers who attended the 2014 event in Boom, Antwerp, Belgium.
Personal information including names, addresses, age, postcodes, and genders may have been compromised in the incident although this may be enough information to commit identity theft and other forms of fraud.
“The managers of the Paylogic ticketing system noticed some unusual activity on an older system,” spokesperson Debby Wilmsen told the Flemish daily newspaper De Standaard according to The Brussels Times. “After careful analysis it appeared that an old database from Tomorrowland 2014 was concerned.”
The server in question was immediately taken offline and Tomorrowland has informed the privacy commission of the incident. Anyone affected by the incident will be informed by email and are advised to change their passwords for the platform immediately.
