This new category recognizes privately held security startups with great promise – and an applied valuation basis at or above $1 billion. Yes, they are still relying on investment dollars; but they also have developed their core product offering and target market, and proven viability. These business may ultimately opt for an initial public offering or they may look toward acquisition as buyer or seller. Regardless, these companies have all eyes on market validation and achieving accelerated scale.
