Group IB, the cybersecuirty firm that uncovered the BadRabbit ransomware attacks in October, inked a threat-exchange agreement with INTERPOL.
The deal will have the two organizations supply each other with cyberthreat intelligence with Group IB giving information on emerging and known cybersecurity issues and cyberattacks as they take place. This will help expedite the identification of trends and malicious attacks.
The first such exchange of information took place almost immediately with Group IB handing over additional research it conducted on the recent BadRabbit attacks, Group IB told SC Media in an emailed statement.
“To effectively combat today's cyber-threats, cooperation between the public and private sectors is essential,” said Noboru Nakatani, executive director of INTERPOL's Global Complex for Innovation. “INTERPOL's agreement with Group-IB is an important step in our ongoing efforts to ensure law enforcement worldwide has access to the information they need to address the scale and complexity of today's cybercrime landscape.”
