The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will memorialize cybersecurity leader and mentor to so many, Howard A. Schmidt, on April 11 in Washington, D.C., where he spent a great deal of time influencing policy, most notably serving as cybersecurity advisor to two presidents.
“Howard was a great friend to the Chamber, serving as the first chairman of the Cyber Leadership Council after leaving his post as White House Cybersecurity Advisor to Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama,” a notice about the memorial service read. “His friendship and expertise will be deeply missed in both the public and private sectors.”
Schmidt, whose accomplishments are two numerous and expansive to recount in full, was also the executive director of SAFECode and a trusted SC Media editorial advisory board member, passed away March 2 at his Wisconsin home.
The memorial service will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the Lee Anderson Veteran's Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 1615 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20062.
