A new report released today by Infonetics Research found that half of large organizations in North America have already deployed some sort of Network Access Control (NAC) solution, and the market could be poised to bring an additional 10 percent of these enterprises on board next year.
"There is massive potential for NAC," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst at Infonetics Research and author of the report. "The No. 1 driver for deploying NAC is protecting corporate resources from unauthorized users. This is really the strong point of NAC, and the most commonly listed benefit of rolling out NAC solutions."
According to his research, small and medium organizations are also buying into NAC. He expects about half of smaller businesses to deploy NAC by 2008.
Wilson's study also found that firms are investing heavily in gateway security, particularly anti-virus, anti-spyware and spam-filtering products and services. According to his figures, 90 percent of the organizations in his study have already invested in gateway anti-virus, and 66 percent will spend more money on it next year.
Additionally, say they will buy and deploy a standalone single-function content security gateway product to rapidly address a new threat.
